The Indiana CTSI offers research opportunities for medical students interested in assisting faculty members in clinical and laboratory research.

Past program participants have progressed on to successful careers as physicians, researchers, pharmacists, and nursing doctorates, including a majority who have remained in Indiana. Many students have had their names included on publications in prestigious medical journals resulting from the research projects they worked on during their program experience.

Indiana Medical Student Program for Research and Scholarship (IMPRS) Summer Program

IMPRS facilitates Indiana University School of Medicine medical student participation in various medical research and experiential opportunities including laboratory, clinical, health research outcomes and community health education. The mission of IMPRS is to provide a diverse array of research and scholarly options for the IU School of Medicine student community and to enrich the research and scholarly education for all IU medical students.

IMPRS eligibility requirements
Applicants to the IMPRS program must:

  • Be current IU School of Medicine students in Phase One of Year One.
  • Be able to dedicate 100 percent of their effort to the summer research program, which lasts eight to 10 weeks from late May to late July.
